Leather Care

Genuine leather rewards a little care. Looked after, it develops its own character over time — a natural, gradual patina that reflects how a piece is actually used. Here's how to help yours age well.

Everyday cleaning

Wipe your piece down with a soft, dry cloth to remove everyday dust and dirt. For light marks, a barely damp cloth is usually enough — avoid soaking the leather, and always let it dry naturally afterwards rather than speeding things up.

Moisture and getting wet

Leather is not waterproof. If it gets caught in the rain or splashed, blot the moisture gently with a soft, dry cloth as soon as you can, then let it air-dry naturally at room temperature. Avoid prolonged exposure to moisture where possible.

Never use direct heat to dry leather. Keep it away from radiators, heaters, and hairdryers — direct heat can dry the leather out, cause it to stiffen, and lead to cracking.

Sunlight

Avoid leaving your piece in direct, prolonged sunlight. Extended UV exposure can fade and dry out leather over time.

Conditioning

If you'd like to use a leather conditioner, choose one suited to the type of leather your piece is made from, and always test it first on a small, discreet area to check how the leather reacts before applying it more widely.

Your piece arrives in attractive protective packaging designed to keep it safe in transit. We don't currently include a leather-care cream, cloth, brush, or other care accessory with orders — any conditioning or cleaning products are for you to choose separately.

Storage

Store your piece somewhere dry and well-ventilated, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Avoid sealing it in airtight plastic for long periods — leather benefits from being able to breathe.

Everyday use

Try not to overfill wallets, cardholders, or bags beyond what they're designed to hold — overstuffing puts extra strain on seams and shape over time.

Natural variation

Leather is a natural material, so grain, texture, and tone vary slightly from piece to piece — and will continue to change gently as your item develops its own patina with use. This natural variation is part of what makes each piece individual; it isn't a manufacturing fault.
